We are currently in a Pastor Transition. A new Pastor will be starting in August. Check back for updates.
We began as a home church in 1936/37. Grew enough that we rented the upstairs at the YMCA. In 1940 we bought two lots in Kelso and built a church building and began worshiping there in 1942.The building had a sawdust floor, open ceiling with exposed trusses, no Sunday School rooms or restrooms. It was heated with an old wood stove in the center of the building and people sat on benches. The building was remodeled in 1948 with enclosed ceiling, a wooden floor and finished walls. In 1950 the Kelso building was expanded. In 1972 the Longview property was purchased. Construction began in 1975. In October, 1977, the congregation moved into the current building.
Our Recent History
Pastor Joe Tira and his wife (right) recently retired from Longview First Church of God. They served God wonderfully here and will be greatly missed by our congregation. During their tenure here the church has grown a great deal spiritually and in numbers. Although we are still a small church one of the greatest things about this church is that we feel like a family to one another. That closeness and true fellowship as it is depicted in the Bible was grown and fostered under their leadership. We were very sorry to say good-bye to these great leaders but realize that God is guiding every aspect of this process and He has brought a new pastor to lead us further.
